I think there is such a long time between expansion releases because of the e-sports world of SC2. SC2 has a huge competitive community, and if they changed the game up so soon with an expansion, it would really screw things up. It's probably necessary to give it a few years in between each one.
I'm really looking forward to this game. Playing it is fun (extremely difficult game to master) and it's the best e-sport in the world to watch.
